A vCard QR code is one of the most useful, least-used features on a business card. Instead of someone manually typing your name, phone, and email into their contacts, one scan saves it all directly — correctly spelled, every time.
What a vCard QR code includes
- Full name and job title
- Phone number(s)
- Email address
- Company name and website
- Optionally, a physical address
Where it works better than a link
Unlike a QR code linking to a website, a vCard code doesn't require an internet connection to work — the contact data is embedded directly in the code itself, so it saves instantly even with no signal, which matters at trade shows or events with poor connectivity.
Placement on the card
Put it on the back of the card, large enough to scan easily (at least 2cm x 2cm on a standard card), with a short label like "Scan to save my contact" so people know what it does before they scan.
Keep it updated
Since the data is baked into the printed code, changing your phone number or job title means reprinting the card with a new code — there's no way to update a static vCard code after printing. Factor that into how many cards you print at once.
Beyond business cards
The same vCard code works well in an email signature, on a LinkedIn banner, or on a booth sign at an event — anywhere someone might want to quickly save your details without typing.
